A good start begins at your workstation.
Windows, .NET Framework, sign-in and updates: prepare your workstation using the current CutCortex installation profile.
These details describe the existing Windows setup. Final acceptance on clean customer systems is still pending.
What your workstation needs
- Operating system
- Windows 64-bit (x64). Setup requires Windows version 10.0.19041 or later. This is the technical installation floor, not approval of every Windows version.
- Runtime
- .NET Framework 4.8 must be installed. If it is missing, setup stops with an explanation; it does not download the runtime automatically.
- Installation
- For the current Windows account, without administrator rights. Default folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\TextilTool. PatternSmith, GitHub and development tools are not required.
- Sign-in and connection
- First use requires internet access, a browser and an account with a valid licence and an assigned seat. The application opens your system browser to sign in.
- Updates
- Download the new version from your account, close CutCortex and run setup. Automatic in-app updates are not included yet.
- Other systems
- No native macOS or Linux application. Windows on ARM and emulation have not been accepted yet.
Connection, licensing and your work
CutCortex is not a permanently offline product. When the connection is interrupted, a previously issued usage grant can only be used until its own validity limit. New activation or renewal requires a connection. A licensing problem still allows you to save work already open. Pattern files are not uploaded for licence checks.
Check performance with your project
Binding minimum values for RAM, processor, graphics, screen resolution and free storage have not been approved yet. Test typical and large projects on the intended computer, including your Windows display scaling. Setup checks installation space; additional space must remain available for projects, recovery and updates.
Prepare installation
- Check the Windows version and system type under Settings → System → About.
- On a company network, check browser sign-in and HTTPS access to the account website with IT. No inbound connections from the internet are needed.
- Before updating, save open projects and close every window belonging to this installation.
