The extension is only the beginning
DXF is a widely used format for exchanging CAD drawings. Applications can interpret geometry and industry-specific information differently. A file that visibly opens may not have transferred all information correctly.
Start with a known check dimension
Check units and scale first. Confusing millimetres and inches changes every dimension. Use several check distances so you can verify both overall size and local details.
Check contours and layers
Look for open ends, duplicate lines and unexpectedly segmented curves. Ensure cutting outlines, stitch lines, labels and notches retain their intended meaning in the target software. Not every visible line should be cut.
Create a repeatable exchange profile
Record the source application, version, export options and target system. Retain a verified sample file. After an update, use it to check whether exchange behaviour has changed.
- Dimensions and units match
- Piece counts and labels are complete
- Contours are closed and unambiguous
- Notches and line types are correct
- A test cut has been checked
Distinguish exchange from compatibility
This guide explains a verification method. The actual import and export variants and machine profiles supported by CutCortex must be confirmed for your configuration. Use the compatibility checklist for this purpose.
