Why is my DXF file the wrong size?

Check units and reference dimensions before reusing a drawing.

DIRECT ANSWER

First check the units in the source and destination systems and a known distance. Millimetres and inches differ by a factor of 25.4. One matching dimension alone does not confirm all geometry information.

  1. 01100 mm
  2. 023.937 inches
  3. 03100 mm

3.937 inches is rounded. Use the exact factor 25.4 for conversion.

Common mistake

Resizing the drawing visually without identifying the cause.

What to check next

  • Keep the original file unchanged.
  • Set units explicitly and check two independent distances.
  • Compare line types and notches after exporting again.
