A file needs to do more than open
Data exchange connects design, planning and cutting. Units, geometry and the meaning of individual lines must survive the transfer. An import without an error message does not by itself confirm production readiness.
Test in both directions
Use a representative piece with straight and curved edges, notches and labels. Open it in the target software and check known dimensions. Export it again and compare the data with the original revision.
- Explicitly check millimetres and inches
- Keep seam and cutting lines distinguishable
- Identify open or duplicate contours
Confirm the actual machine connection
A file extension does not describe the entire connection. Software version, export profile, postprocessor and machine configuration can affect the result. A specific approval therefore requires the actual target environment.
Document an interface
Keep the verified sample file together with the chosen settings. This creates a reference for later updates and new workstations. The compatibility page helps you assemble the information needed for a test.
