Keep the knowledge you already have
Paper templates and existing drawings hold valuable production knowledge. A digital workflow starts by capturing those shapes cleanly. You can then correct contours, label pieces and derive variants for new orders.
Scale before speed
Set at least one known reference measurement. Images can be affected by perspective, lens distortion or warped paper. Check several independent distances after capture; one correct dimension does not validate an entire piece.
- Lay the template flat and identify it clearly
- Record a reference dimension and its unit
- Clean contours and transfer important notches
Build a verified digital master
Keep the approved master separate from later order variants. Record its origin, dimensional checks and material context. This makes the intended starting point for future designs clear.
Test your capture method
Whether you use an image, an existing CAD file or additional capture hardware, test the full process with a representative piece. Availability of individual hardware integrations is confirmed separately.
